What are Dental Restorations?

A dental restoration is any treatment used to replace missing teeth or restore the condition of teeth damaged by injury or decay. Restorations can range from dental fillings to implants depending on the severity of your condition.

What Dental Restoration Do You Offer?

Our team has undergone extensive training in several dental health specializations, including:

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

If you have suffered a traumatic injury that has resulted in a dental misalignment or an issue with your nasal cavity, oral and maxillofacial surgery can provide functional and cosmetic benefits.

Prosthodontics

Prosthodontics is the dental medicine specialty of using prosthetic devices to restore your teeth's appearance and utility. Some of the most common prosthetic treatments include dentures, bridges, crowns, and implants.

Endodontics

Endodontic dentistry focuses on treating infections of the dental pulp at the center of your teeth. Specifically, endodontic therapy is the removal of infected pulp and sealing the damaged tooth with a dental filling.

Our Dental Restoration Procedures

Some of our most popular restorative options include:

CEREC ®

Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic (CEREC®) has revolutionized dental procedures. Traditionally, if crowns, onlays, inlays or dental veneers were required to restore damaged teeth, multiple procedures and a great deal of waiting time in-between would be inevitable. CEREC® creates these ceramic restorations within minutes in the dental office. This means that many treatments can be completed in just a single visit.

Inlays

An inlay restoration is a custom-made filling made of composite material, gold, or tooth-colored porcelain.  It is made by a professional dental laboratory and is permanently cemented into the tooth by your dentist.

Onlays

Onlays are essentially identical to inlays with the exception that one or more of the chewing cusps have also been affected and need to be included in the restoration.  An onlay is sometimes also referred to as a partial crown.  It is made by a professional dental laboratory and is permanently cemented onto the tooth by your dentist.

Composite Fillings

A composite (tooth colored) filling is used to repair a tooth that is affected by decay, cracks, fractures, etc. The decayed or affected portion of the tooth will be removed and then filled with a composite filling.

Crowns

A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size.  A crown protects and strengthens tooth structure that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations.

Dentures and Partial Dentures

A denture is a removable dental appliance replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue.  They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and may even enhance your smile.

There are two types of dentures – complete and partial dentures.  Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.  A partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth, but it also prevents other teeth from shifting.

Fixed Bridges

A dental bridge is a fixed (non-removable) appliance and is an excellent way to replace missing teeth. Dental bridges are highly durable and will last many years, however, they may need replacement or need to be re-cemented due to normal wear.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy is needed when the nerve of a tooth is affected by decay or infection.  In order to save the tooth, the pulp (the living tissue inside the tooth), nerves, bacteria, and any decay are removed and the resulting space is filled with special, medicated, dental materials, which restore the tooth to its full function.
